Living in the Cooks

Our Kia Orana Values

The Cook Islands are guided by three core values; Kia OranaMeitaki and Mana Tiaki.

  • Kia Orana is both a blessing and a wish for good fortune. It is the essence of our people and islands. The Kia Orana values embody this essence and reflect our aspirations for our islands.

  • Meitaki means here, everything is good and well. It means we are grateful and is also a way of saying thank you.

  • Mana Tiaki means we are proud guardians of these islands.

Our visitors will learn and come to appreciate our values and share these experiences with the world!
