What to do if your Employee wants to speak-up?

The aim of a great manager is to ensure that every interaction with an Employee is positive.  However, sometimes those discussions, involve more serious matters, and a fair and equitable process on dealing with issues can be put in place.  When concerns are raised, the person they choose to confide in needs to take them seriously and give or seek advice on the best action to take and follow through to resolution.
